Principal's Opening Letter

August, 2016

Dear Students and Families,

I truly hope that you have enjoyed your summer and that you are excited to return to school! Students return on September 1st; this will be a full day. Lunch will be served. Third grade students should report to the cafeteria upon arrival where they will be greeted by their teachers. All other students will report directly to their homerooms. We have been busy this summer preparing for the upcoming school year including a few changes to our staff.

1.  Rose Okai has been hired as a district Math Coach. Although we will miss Mrs. Okai's warm smile and kind manner, we wish her well in her new endeavor.

2.  Replacing Mrs. Okai in Grade 6 is Lauren Corcoran. Miss Corcoran taught third grade at Johnson House last year and was scheduled to teach Grade 4 this year.  She is very excited to take up permanent residence in sixth grade and we are delighted to welcome her to this new position.

3.  Please join me in welcoming our new fourth grade teacher, Donna DeLucia!  Mrs. DeLucia fills the position vacated by Miss Corcoran. Mrs. DeLucia comes to us from Franklin School where she worked as a tutor for the past two years. Mrs. DeLucia taught 2nd grade in New York and she substituted for the Trumbull Public Schools while raising her family. Welcome aboard Mrs. DeLucia!

4. Amy Ferraro transferred to Wooster Middle School. Although she will miss everyone at the Academy. She is excited to continue to support former Stratford Academy students. We wish Mrs. Ferraro well as she moves on to a new chapter in her life.  Note: We are in the process of interviewing for Mrs. Ferraro's replacement.

5. Our sixth grade guidance counselor, Miss Amanda Cotela has taken a position at Bunnell High School. We are going to miss her but wish her well in her new role.

I look forward to seeing you on September 1st!

Mrs. DiDomenico
