Hello! My name is John Pioli, and I teach General Music to grades 4 and 5 (as well as Mrs. Okai’s 6th grade class), and co-teach the 5/6 choir with Mr. Ken Trapp. [I also teach two days a week at Lordship Elementary.]
A Connecticut native, I graduated from Easton/Redding’s Joel Barlow High School in 1999. Since then, I have been granted degrees from Western Connecticut State University (BM Jazz Guitar Performance), University of North Texas (MM Jazz Studies and Ethnomusicology), and University of Bridgeport (6th Year in Music Education). While obtaining my 6th Year degree, I had the opportunity to student-teach with Stratford Academy’s Ken Trapp as well as Wooster Middle School’s September Baraquin.
I am a lifelong learner and lover of music. I have been a performer of, composer for, and student of the guitar for nearly 22 years. Along the way, I have learned (and continue to work with) electric bass, upright bass, drumset, mbira, banjo, pedal steel, mandolin, piano, and other various hand, mallet, and stringed instruments. I am also a lover of all styles of music, and it is my hope to integrate some of those styles into the classroom!
Please feel free to contact me for any reason.
