Instrumental Music

My Name is Janice R. Hooton-Racine. I have been teaching in Stratford at Stratford Academy since 1999. I teach instrumental music to grades three through six and high school orchestra at Stratford High School. I have developed many unique programs at the Academy  one of which is the sixth grade district jazz band. It is conducted by a high school junior and senior who are interested in the field of music education. Another program is the Drum Circle Poject which involves students who want to experiance music in a less formal setting. I received my Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Massachusetts and my Masters in the Science of Education at the Southern Connecticut State University. Some of my favorite hobbies are long distance biking, hiking, rock climbing, and ice climbing.
